Man taken into ICE custody near school bus stop in Croton-on-Hudson

Sep 11, 2026Croton-on-Hudson, NY

A man living on Brook Street in Croton-on-Hudson was taken into ICE custody during a 'verified immigration enforcement' operation around 7 a.m. on September 11, 2026, near a school bus stop on a school day. Village Mayor Brian Pugh said the village police department had no advance knowledge of the operation and did not participate in it. Pugh criticized ICE for conducting the operation without notifying local officials or the school district, calling it 'unnecessarily disruptive,' and said he notified the state attorney general through her Federal Action Reporting Form. He noted this is the second such case on Brook Street, after another man was taken into ICE custody in an incident reported in the village's April 19-25, 2026 police blotter and who remains in federal custody; Pugh added that village police do not enforce federal civil immigration laws and only cooperate with immigration officials in cases involving judicial criminal warrants, terrorism, or probable cause of a criminal offense.

Sep 11, 2026West Palm Beach, FL

An unidentified immigrant man with an active work permit was detained by ICE agents in a West Palm Beach parking lot on September 11, according to the nonprofit Guatemalan-Maya Center. His two U.S. citizen children, one of whom is deaf, were left without a parent because their mother was already in ICE custody. The nonprofit's assistant director rushed to the scene to provide legal guidance and care for the remaining family members.

U.S. citizen handcuffed by ICE outside Annapolis 7-Eleven, leads lawsuit over warrantless arrests

Sep 11, 2026Annapolis, MD

Samuel Guzmán, a 24-year-old U.S. citizen born in Maryland who spent part of his childhood in Mexico and lives in Anne Arundel County, was surrounded and handcuffed by masked ICE agents near a 7-Eleven in Annapolis one Sunday in June while driving to his restaurant job. He said he repeatedly told officers he was born in the country, and that one officer asked him, 'If you are an American citizen, why don't you speak better English?' He was held for more than an hour alongside other Latino individuals and said he worried about a co-worker who lived nearby. Guzmán is now the lead plaintiff in a proposed federal class-action lawsuit, Guzmán v. DHS, filed September 9, 2026 in U.S. District Court in Maryland by immigrant rights group CASA. He is joined by three other Maryland residents from Prince George's, Montgomery and Wicomico counties who say they were similarly arrested without warrants or probable cause. The lawsuit alleges ICE adopted an 'arrest first, ask questions later' policy targeting people perceived to be Brown or Black immigrants without individualized assessments, and asks a federal judge to declare such warrantless arrests unconstitutional.

Haitian man who shouted 'Biden forever' in viral ICE arrest video deported to Haiti

Sep 10, 2026Boston, MAHaiti

Wisteguens Jean Quely Charles, a Haitian national who had lived in the U.S. under Temporary Protected Status since 2013, was arrested by ICE in the Boston area (Mattapan) on January 22, 2025, in a video that went viral after he shouted profanities and declared 'Biden forever' while resisting arrest. DHS said his TPS had been terminated by USCIS in 2022 after he accumulated 17 criminal convictions, including assault, weapons, and drug offenses, and alleged gang membership. Massachusetts' Norfolk House of Correction had released him in October 2023 without honoring an ICE detainer. He spent roughly 19 months in federal custody before an immigration judge issued a final removal order in November 2025. ICE deported Charles to Haiti on September 10, 2026, via a flight from Louisiana, during which officials said he became combative.

Longtime Seaside restaurant owner still detained as family disputes ICE warrant

Sep 10, 2026Seaside, OR

Martin Anguiano, 63, who has owned and operated Guadalajara Taco Shop in Seaside for 23 years, was arrested by ICE officers on September 10 while picking up supplies at a Safeway. Officers cited a 1993 removal order, after which Anguiano was deported and later returned to the country; his family says he has faced no charges since and is now questioning the validity of the warrant ICE is using to hold him. His wife, Michelle, said she is struggling to understand what happened and described him as a hardworking father, grandfather and husband known throughout the community, while Steve Haugen, owner of the building housing the restaurant, called him "the last person you'd think would be arrested." Anguiano is being held at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, where his family says conditions are poor, and a GoFundMe started by his daughter has raised more than $14,000 for bills and legal fees.

Venezuelan couple detained by ICE while charging Tesla at Doral station

Sep 9, 2026Doral, FLVenezuela

Marianela Pujol and Nelson José Díaz, a Venezuelan couple originally from Ciudad Ojeda, Zulia, were detained by ICE agents on the night of Sunday, September 6, while stopped at a Wawa charging station on 87th Avenue in Doral, Florida, to recharge their electric vehicle. The couple, who work as insurance agents, entered the U.S. legally in 2021 on a visa and have a still-pending asylum application. Their 21-year-old daughter, Daniela Pujol, said an officer told her mother there was no specific infraction but that she was being taken into custody because of the pending asylum case, leaving Daniela alone in the country. Family members said the couple has no criminal record, and Daniela has sought legal representation, appealed to a local council member and advocacy organizations, and started a GoFundMe campaign to cover legal defense costs.

Five fathers handcuffed in front of children during Labor Day camping trip, ICE detains them

Sep 5, 2026WAMexico

Five men from an extended Mexican family in Snohomish County — described as fathers, husbands, uncles, godfathers, and primary breadwinners — were detained by ICE during a Labor Day weekend camping trip at Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest near Granite Falls, Washington. U.S. Forest Service rangers first visited the campsite over a reported trash complaint and photographed the men's identification; one individual who had posed as a ranger later returned armed with a rifle as ICE 'backup.' Just before midnight, armed ICE agents returned, initially identifying themselves as police before revealing they were immigration officers, shook tents, and handcuffed the men one by one in front of children ages 1 to 14 and a pregnant mother. Carmen, 19, said she watched agents arrest her father, uncles, and godfathers, and that the experience traumatized younger cousins who had viewed the campground as a safe retreat. Families said they had no cell service and could not reach a lawyer or the detained men until after the holiday weekend. DHS said four of the five men had no criminal record aside from a 2016 misdemeanor negligent driving conviction, citing prior voluntary returns to Mexico, a 2021 driving-related arrest, and unlawful entry as grounds for removal proceedings. The men remain at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, and families are raising roughly $100,000 for legal fees and living expenses while fearing transfer out of state. Washington Governor Bob Ferguson called the detentions cruel and ordered a legal investigation, while Representative Pramila Jayapal demanded answers about whether federal land management staff improperly facilitated civil immigration enforcement.

66-year-old Colombian asylum seeker detained buying coffee, shackled and sent to Texas

Sep 4, 2026Tacoma, WAColombia

Zoilo Viloria, a 66-year-old Colombian asylum seeker who worked in building maintenance in Tacoma, Washington, was detained by ICE agents in a McDonald's parking lot while stopping for coffee on his way to work. His daughter, Stephany Viloria, said agents had been scanning license plates to check drivers' immigration status and took her father away in handcuffs after he nervously handed over his documents. She described him as a hardworking man with no criminal record, not even a traffic infraction, who entered the U.S. legally in 2018 on a tourist visa and later filed for asylum after receiving threats in Colombia tied to his work in the transportation business. He held a valid work permit and driver's license and paid taxes while his asylum case was pending. Days after his arrest, he was transferred, shackled at the hands and feet, to a detention facility in El Paso, Texas, where he has struggled with cold conditions and uncertainty about his care. His daughter posted a video denouncing the arrest, drawing attention to the case.

Angolan bank worker arrested by ICE in Lewiston parking lot, judge blocks removal

Sep 4, 2026Lewiston, MEAngola

Adnero Pinto Sebastiao, an Angolan national with a pending asylum application, was arrested by ICE agents as he returned from lunch to his job at a bank in the Lewiston area. He had entered the U.S. legally on a tourist visa in March 2024 before applying for asylum, and his immigration case remains pending. His attorneys filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus arguing the detention was an unlawful warrantless arrest lacking individualized assessment. A federal judge issued an indefinite injunction barring ICE from removing him from the U.S. or transferring him out of the District of Maine, and ordered the government to justify the detention. A DHS spokesperson said Sebastiao overstayed his visa and that a pending asylum application does not confer legal status.

Father of disabled children deported while driving to work

Sep 3, 2026Austin, TX

Luis Ivan Campos was detained by ICE while driving to work and subsequently deported on September 3rd, according to his son Christian Campos. He was not pulled over for a traffic violation or detained by local law enforcement before being taken into ICE custody. Campos was the primary caregiver for two of his children with disabilities: a 17-year-old with severe Hemophilia Type A who uses a wheelchair and was recently hospitalized, and a 4-year-old with Down syndrome who also has severe Hemophilia Type A. His family, including his wife Karina, started a fundraiser to help cover expenses and support the children following his deportation.

Dominican man denied bond despite court order; habeas case later dismissed

Sep 1, 2026San Juan, PRDominican Republic

Juan Francisco Areche Minaya, a 49-year-old Dominican citizen who has lived in Puerto Rico for more than 28 years with no criminal record, was detained in San Juan on August 11, 2026 by several masked ICE agents while waiting near a business for a friend who was picking up electrical materials for a job. He is the father of two U.S.-citizen children and the son of a U.S.-citizen mother, both of whom depend on him for financial and daily support, and he has two previously approved I-130 family petitions. His daughter, Darjeerling Areche, said he has 'been present throughout my entire life' and called his detention 'completely incomprehensible.' U.S. District Judge Gina Méndez Miró barred his transfer out of Puerto Rico and ordered a bond hearing under the First Circuit's ruling in Guerrero Orellana v. Moniz, but Immigration Judge Elvin Talavera Peraza denied him bond on August 21, 2026, citing an alleged flight risk; his habeas petition alleges the stop was racially motivated. The ACLU of Puerto Rico and the University of Puerto Rico's Immigration Clinic denounced the bond denial as part of a broader pattern of biased rulings. On September 1, 2026, the federal court dismissed his amended habeas petition without prejudice, finding he had not exhausted administrative remedies or presented a proper constitutional question.

Queens day laborers vanish from corner as officials say ICE waged fear campaign

Sep 1, 2026Woodside, NY

On Sept. 1, ICE agents raided a day laborer gathering spot near General Hart Playground in Woodside, Queens, detaining about eight men, the second such raid in three days. Workers say ICE has specifically targeted the site during a weekly mobile soup kitchen distribution, and the usual crowd of about 100 day laborers has dwindled to just a few people showing up for work. Local officials, including Assemblymember Steven Raga and City Council Member Julie Won, say the raids are part of a broader, deliberate pattern of ICE activity across western Queens in recent weeks, including incidents near 37th Avenue and 69th Street. DHS says its "Operation Rotten Apple" resulted in 2,197 arrests statewide between July 27 and Aug. 29, though nationwide data shows fewer than a third of those in ICE detention have any criminal conviction.

Man hospitalized after ICE agent tases him during Danbury arrest

Aug 28, 2026Danbury, CT

A man was hospitalized after being Tased by an ICE agent during his arrest in Danbury during a targeted enforcement operation. City officials said ICE called 911 around 6:45 a.m. reporting the man had been Tased and needed medical attention, and a city ambulance transported him to Danbury Hospital, where he was discharged later that morning. A DHS spokesperson said the man physically resisted arrest and reached for a pocketknife, and that he was carrying a counterfeit lawful permanent resident card and fake Social Security card. Danbury Mayor Roberto Alves called the incident 'deeply concerning' and said the community deserves transparency about what occurred and why that level of force was used.

ICE vehicles speed past stopped school bus, scattering children in New Jersey

Aug 28, 2026NJ

A court filing revealed that earlier this year four ICE vehicles sped past a stopped school bus with its lights flashing in New Jersey before heading toward an apartment complex where elementary school children were waiting for another bus. The children scattered and ran away in fear. Vanessa Cárdenas, executive director of America's Voice, said the incident showed immigration agents treating young children on their way to school as targets.

ICE agents seen throwing, kneeling on man's head during Danbury detention sweep

Aug 27, 2026Danbury, CT

ICE conducted a multi-day enforcement operation in Danbury, Connecticut, with the mayor estimating about 50 people detained by Wednesday, not including further arrests on Thursday. Surveillance video from a security camera near Kennedy Park, at a business owned by Maria Rivera, captured agents throwing, kicking, and kneeling on a man's head as he was arrested outside a local Botanica store. The area had previously drawn up to 200 day laborers each morning, but immigrants and residents now avoid it, and nearby business owners reported fear and declining customer traffic. Agents were also seen waiting near school bus stops and outside a daycare center. A local blogger documenting the activity said agents grabbed day laborers off the street without warrants. Connecticut Attorney General William Tong said ICE had not explained why it was operating in Danbury and that he was exploring legal options to hold the administration accountable, while DHS confirmed the enforcement activity but declined to provide further details, citing operational security.

Ecuadorian construction worker detained by ICE while driving home in Danbury

Aug 27, 2026Danbury, CTEcuador

Jhonny Ojeda, a 26-year-old construction worker from Ecuador who has lived in the U.S. for five years, was pulled over on West Street and taken from his truck by ICE agents while driving home from a job site. His fiancée, Kim Rivas, said Ojeda had no criminal record, paid taxes every year, and had legal representation. His arrest came amid a fourth consecutive day of ICE activity in Danbury, with the mayor estimating about 50 people had been detained citywide.

U.S. citizen thrown to ground, detained for hours by ICE in Passaic, NJ

Aug 27, 2026Passaic, NJ

Brandon Domena, a lifelong Passaic County, New Jersey resident and U.S. citizen, was detained by ICE agents for about five hours after a confrontation broke out while he and his family watched agents arrest a neighbor, reportedly a Mexican man wanted for domestic violence. Video showed agents in tactical gear restraining Domena face-down on a lawn and handcuffing him, with a witness saying his arm was nearly dislocated; he says he was left with bruises and marks on his hands. Domena said he repeatedly told agents he was a U.S. citizen, believes he was racially profiled, and was denied water, a restroom, medical attention and a phone call during his detention. DHS alleges he spit at and kicked an officer and was arrested on potential charges of assaulting, resisting or impeding federal officers, but he has not been criminally charged. He disputes DHS's account, says an agent later apologized to him, was released the same day, and has hired a lawyer.

Foreign national detained by ICE en route to work wins habeas release order

Aug 26, 2026Philadelphia, PA

A foreign national who entered the United States around 2008 was arrested and detained by ICE officers on August 26, 2026, without prior notice while he was on his way to work. He is currently held at the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center, with the government asserting he is subject to mandatory detention under 8 U.S.C. § 1225(b)(2)(A). He filed a petition for writ of habeas corpus challenging his detention. The district court granted the petition, relying on recent Third Circuit precedent holding that noncitizens already present in the United States are not 'seeking admission' and therefore cannot be detained under § 1225(b), but only under § 1226. The court ordered the government to release him immediately, temporarily enjoined his re-detention for seven days, and required that any future detention be preceded by a bond hearing before a neutral immigration judge. The court also barred the government from removing or transferring him out of the district pending that bond hearing.

ICE raids detain dozens in Lee County, Florida neighborhood

Aug 26, 2026Fort Myers, FL

ICE agents carried out a raid early Wednesday morning at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Alderman Street off Palm Beach Boulevard in Lee County, Florida, detaining dozens of people using masked agents, armored vehicles and machine guns. Resident Ana Hernandez said neighbors live in fear of being stopped for being undocumented, while witness Hillary Hogue described the arrests as targeting hardworking people, not criminals. ICE released images of five men with prior arrests taken into custody but has not disclosed the total number detained, and immigration attorney Indera DeMine said courts in Miami are experiencing "mass chaos" from the surge in cases.
