His family only learned where he was when a hospital bill arrived. Today, months later, he remains locked inside Boone County Jail in Kentucky.

DHS threatens charges for filming agents

Protest/InterventionU.S. Citizen

DHS is threatening to charge people who document ICE agents.
The Department of Homeland Security says filming and posting videos of ICE agents constitutes “violence,” and has threatened to charge people who take videos and photos of agents conducting raids in their communities. DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Tricia McLaughlin told the Center for Media and Democracy that “videotaping ICE law enforcement and posting photos and videos of them online is doxxing our agents.” Apparently she isn’t aware of the First Amendment (no surprise) Reminder: The First Amendment protects the right to records law enforcement officers performing their duties in public. This includes ICE agents. We will continue exercising our First Amendment right to document and report ICE activity across the country. Silence is Defeat. Stay aware, stay alert, be vigilant.

Mother separated from children at court

Sep 19, 2025
Disappearance/DetentionMinor/family

Everyone had their case dismissed that afternoon which meant ICE could now take them at anytime. With only one way out of the building and ICE sitting in cars throughout the parking lot I knew what was going to happen. The mother’s friend-who had been sitting in the car next to mine-stepped out and met them by the front entrance, just a few feet from where I stood with the Priests. For a second, I couldn’t tell if the mother realized what was about to happen. But it only took that second. Suddenly, the ICE agents-every one of them a masked man-began walking toward us. Toward her. And that’s when it started. The little girl saw them first. “Mommy! Mommy!” she screamed, and burst into tears. Then her brother realized what was happening and started crying too. ICE doesn’t like to take children when the Priests are present and watching. ICE -asked whoever is with the kids to follow them to a different location, so they can take the children too. Because the kids are also in removal proceedings. Army veteran detained three days despite citizenship

Sep 18, 2025California
Disappearance/Detention

George Retes is a 25-year-old U.S. Army veteran who served a tour in Iraq. On July 10, while on his way to work as a security guard at a Southern California cannabis farm, he was detained by federal immigration agents, Retes told Conor Friedersdorf—despite telling them that he is an American citizen and that his wallet and identification were in his nearby car.Retes was held in a jail cell for three days and was not allowed to make a phone call, see an attorney, appear before a judge, or take a shower to wash off pepper spray and tear gas that the agents had used, according to a public-interest law firm representing Retes.Retes is seeking relief under the Federal Tort Claims Act, which allows private parties to sue for negligent or wrongful acts committed by federal employees acting within their job. “There must be some avenue to hold the federal government or its officers liable for violating George’s constitutional rights,” Marie Miller, one of Retes’s attorneys, told Friedersdorf. ICE did not respond to Friedersdorf’s request for comment about Retes’s claim, but a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security put out a statement after the raid in which he was swept up, saying that the “U.S. Attorney’s Office is reviewing his case, along with dozens of others, for potential federal charges related to the execution of the federal search warrant in Camarillo.”

Honduran father dies in custody

Detention ConditionsDeathDisappearance/Detention

HE NEEDS TO GO HOME': A 42-year-old Honduran citizen died in his New York jail cell while in ICE custody last week, leaving behind a daughter and former girlfriend in Lexington who are now fighting to bring his body home for burial. Santos Reyes-Bangegas, who went by Allen, was found dead after being in custody for less than a day. ICE says he had been deported at least four times previously and had lived in Kentucky in 2019 before being sent back to Honduras. The preliminary cause of death was found to be liver failure, and Reyes-Bangegas had a history of drinking. However, his former girlfriend Mary Diaz, who now has custody of his daughter Juana, questions the circumstances surrounding his death. The family learned of Reyes-Bangegas' death from another prisoner who was at the same jail, not from ICE or jail officials. The family wants to hold a funeral service in Kentucky before sending his body to Honduras, where the rest of his family lives. ICE says the death remains under investigation.

A California man Kinnaree Muangchanh has recently been detained after a routine check in and is now facing deportation from the United States back to Laos. He has lived here for over 40 years, built his life in this community, and has always been a kind and dependable presence. Kinnaree has always checked in with immigration, followed the rules, and stayed out of trouble .
