Six deportation flights have carried 529 people from the U.S. to Cap-Haïtien since Temporary Protected Status ended in July, including a September 24 flight of 39 people, among them 23 former TPS holders, six with open asylum cases, two with pending green card applications, and six who had entered under a Biden-era parole program. U.S. authorities had told Haiti they planned up to two flights weekly carrying as many as 250 people, and flights have arrived almost weekly since August 20. Advocacy groups, including Haiti's Support Group for Returnees and Refugees, have reported deportees being shackled at the hands and feet during the two-hour flights, and Human Rights Watch has called on the U.S. to suspend deportations given ongoing gang violence in Haiti.
