Detained immigrant's Supreme Court case dropped after he left the US
Sep 27, 2026

Carol Williams Black was detained by ICE for roughly seven months as part of a legal dispute over bond hearings for noncitizens with criminal records fighting deportation. His case became moot after he received a final order of removal and permanently left the United States, prompting the Supreme Court to focus its review on a different detainee's case.
