Disabled father misses son's birth after ICE detains him over noise complaint
Sep 21, 2026·Location: Seattle, WA

Carlos Moreno, a disabled asylum seeker from Venezuela, was detained by ICE in March after paying a fine for a neighbor's noise complaint, and held for nearly six months at Cambria County Prison. While he was detained, his wife, Wendys Martinez, gave birth to their son without him present, leaving their four children to care for themselves at home in Schuylkill County. A GoFundMe campcampaign has raised funds for legal fees, rental assistance and groceries as the family copes with the separation.
