Families in Dodge City, Garden City and Liberal cope with fear after ICE raids
Sep 24, 2026·Location: Dodge City, KS

ICE agents operated in southwest Kansas from Sept. 22 to Sept. 25, 2026, with most activity in Dodge City, Garden City and Liberal. On Sept. 24, hundreds gathered in downtown Dodge City waving flags from Mexico, Guatemala and the United States to protest the operation, and the next day protesters marched from Wright Park to U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann's office, finding it locked. Mann later issued a statement acknowledging the disruption to local communities while defending federal immigration enforcement. In the days after agents left, many residents returned to work, but fear kept some from leaving their homes, with volunteers like Viridiana Boron delivering meals to families too afraid to go out.
