Warren King, a 19-year-old U.S. citizen born and raised in Chicago, was tackled and detained by masked federal immigration agents at a Walgreens on the city's East Side. King said he was shopping with friends and family when a federal operation—initially sparked by a vehicle collision and chase involving two people living in the U.S. without legal status—spilled into the store. He was tackled as he tried to leave, while family members and witnesses repeatedly told agents he was a citizen. King was held for several hours in a vehicle alongside the two other detained individuals before being released without charges, left with physical and mental injuries from the takedown. A crowd of bystanders gathered near the scene to protest, chanting "ICE go home," and agents later deployed tear gas into the crowd.
