Willy Wender Aceituno Medina, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Honduras who has lived in Charlotte, North Carolina for over 25 years, was stopped twice within minutes by masked federal immigration agents in a restaurant parking lot on November 15, 2025, during an operation agents called 'Operation Charlotte's Web.' Although a first group of agents confirmed his citizenship and clean record, a second group returned, smashed his truck window, dragged him over the broken glass, threw him to the pavement, and handcuffed him before driving him about two miles away and releasing him bleeding, without his keys or medical help. Aceituno, who said he voted for Trump twice, said the encounter echoed childhood trauma from Honduras, where his father was taken by the military and never seen again. He sought treatment at Atrium Hospital, and his U.S.-born daughter now carries her passport at college because of her appearance. With support from the ACLU of North Carolina, the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, and a law firm, Aceituno has filed a $1.25 million federal claim against DHS, ICE, and CBP alleging Fourth and Fifth Amendment violations, and is lead plaintiff in a related class-action lawsuit over warrantless immigration arrests in North Carolina. A DHS spokesperson said no constitutional rights were violated.
