South Dakota deploys National Guard, prison system to assist ICE deportations

Gov. Larry Rhoden announced 'Operation Prairie Thunder,' a state initiative to support federal immigration enforcement in South Dakota. The state will deploy six National Guard members to handle ICE paperwork and commit the prison system to transport detainees and sign a 287(g) agreement with ICE for jail detention, freeing up federal agents to conduct street enforcement operations.
