Bosnian man indicted for lying about war crimes to obtain U.S. citizenship

Miran Kostic, a 66-year-old Bosnian national living in Boise, Idaho, was indicted by a federal grand jury following an investigation by ICE Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI, with cooperation from Bosnian authorities and a UN tribunal. Prosecutors allege that as a high-level official in the so-called Autonomous Province of Western Bosnia, Kostic personally pistol-whipped, beat, and kicked prisoners, and ordered subordinates to abuse detainees as well. He is accused of lying about this conduct and concealing war crimes charges filed against him in Bosnia and Herzegovina during his naturalization process, including in applications and interviews with USCIS and the FBI. He faces charges of attempted naturalization fraud and making false statements to federal agents, carrying penalties of up to 10 years in prison per fraud count and five years for the false statements charge.

Post Falls police make 15 immigration arrests under 287(g) program

Post Falls police announced they made 15 arrests of people suspected of violating federal immigration law after joining the 287(g) program with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE agents accompanied Post Falls officers during joint patrol operations from Aug. 24 to Aug. 28, resulting in 13 arrests, with two additional arrests made later. The department said it does not anticipate the number of arrests during the training period reflects future operations.

Six undocumented immigrants arrested at Nampa construction site

Colombian Asylum Seeker Detained by ICE While Making Amazon Deliveries

A Colombian national who entered the U.S. without inspection in 2023 and was paroled after indicating credible fear of persecution was detained by ICE on July 1, 2026, while delivering packages for Amazon with a valid work permit. DHS and EOIR ordered his mandatory detention without bond eligibility under 8 U.S.C. § 1225(b)(2)(A). On July 10, 2026, the U.S. District Court for Idaho granted his habeas corpus petition and ordered his immediate release, finding that § 1226(a) applies because he was already present in the country and was not subject to the cited detention statutes.

Mexican Woman Detained by ICE After DUI Arrest Involving Child Injury

Father detained in Idaho ICE raid held in Wyoming jails, sues for release

He has since been held in Wyoming's Uinta and Sweetwater county jails, and his attorney is petitioning a federal judge for his release or a bond hearing while his immigration case proceeds. His daughter, a U.S. citizen who witnessed the raid while caring for her baby, said her father 'works his butt off' for the family and that her younger siblings, ages 15 and 11, were handcuffed with zip ties for hours and traumatized by the operation. A federal judge has since ordered the government to provide the man a bond hearing within seven days or release him.
