Man dons ICE costume, intimidates Brazilian election voters in Miami

Danilo Alves Silva, 46, was arrested after authorities said he dressed up as an ICE agent—wearing an ICE hat, raid jacket, tactical gear, and a face mask—to intimidate voters at a Miami-Dade College polling site during Brazil's presidential election. Several voters became visibly afraid that an immigration agent was interfering with the election and could deport them. Silva later admitted the outfit was a costume he bought online and said he returned to record people's reactions after voting himself. He allegedly threatened a detective and offered a bribe after being detained, and faces charges including felony voting intimidation, bribery, threatening a public servant, and unlawful use of police insignia.

Man chased down and arrested on I-5 freeway in possible ICE operation

A man was detained after being chased on foot across three lanes of Interstate 5 in Des Moines, Washington, in an arrest that a Customs and Border Protection spokesperson said was most likely carried out by ICE. Video of the incident, showing the man tackled by two vested officers and walked to an unmarked vehicle with flashing lights, was posted to a community site that tracks ICE activity. Washington State Patrol and the King County sheriff's office confirmed they were not involved in the arrest.

Fake ICE agent held gun on food truck owner, threatened to pistol-whip his son

A Venezuelan legal permanent resident who operates a food truck with his son in Miami-Dade was repeatedly confronted by a man posing as a high-ranking ICE official, according to a federal complaint. Jonathan Christian Gonzalez Reyes, a 45-year-old Colombian national, allegedly used a badge, firearm, and a vehicle equipped with police-style lights to convince the victim he worked for ICE, then offered to help with immigration issues in exchange for money. When the victim refused, Gonzalez Reyes allegedly threatened to plant drugs in the food truck and pistol-whip the operator's son, prompting the victim to call police. He was later identified through a photo lineup and vehicle registration records, and has been charged with falsely impersonating a federal officer.

Venezuelan man says ICE agents beat him during Georgia arrest

A 24-year-old Venezuelan man, identified as Mikel Junior Sanchez Ortiz, says he suffered a broken nose and other injuries when he was pulled from a car and beaten while heading to work in Gainesville, Georgia. His girlfriend, who was in the vehicle, says six black SUVs surrounded them, agents forced open the door, and his phone was taken. He is now held at the Stewart Detention Center, and his girlfriend has started a GoFundMe to help cover costs. The incident comes the same week members of Congress visited Stewart Detention Center and raised concerns about overcrowding, lack of care, and poor conditions there.

Coral Gables woman admits faking ICE title to derail deportation cases

Ana Caridad Linares, a 45-year-old woman from Coral Gables, admitted in federal court to falsely impersonating a federal officer by inventing a non-existent "Legal Administrative Specialist" position within ICE and using that fake title to file fraudulent motions with immigration courts requesting dismissal of deportation cases. She collected fees from clients before submitting documents formatted to appear as authentic government filings. The scheme was discovered in February 2024 when an immigration judge flagged one of her motions as fraudulent, leading investigators to trace at least three more similar motions filed during the same period. Linares faces up to three years in prison, with sentencing scheduled for August 20, 2026.

Driver pulled over and assaulted by men impersonating ICE agents in Oregon

A driver on Highway 211 near Woodburn, Oregon was pulled over by an SUV using red and blue emergency-style lights on July 17, 2026. Two men got out, one carrying a rifle, identified themselves as ICE agents, forced the driver from their vehicle, searched them, and placed them in the back of the SUV, where a third man assaulted them. The driver was held for 15 to 20 minutes before being released and later sought hospital treatment for injuries. Oregon State Police and the FBI are investigating, and authorities confirmed the men were not actual federal law enforcement officers.

Masked men posing as ICE agents assault driver in fake Oregon traffic stop

Oregon State Police are investigating a report that three masked men impersonating ICE agents stopped a driver on Highway 211 in Clackamas County, Oregon, on July 17, 2026. Police said two of the men, one carrying a rifle, pulled the driver from their car, searched them, and placed them in the back of an unmarked SUV, where a third man assaulted them before releasing them 15 to 20 minutes later. The victim was treated at a hospital for injuries and later received a text message from a number claiming to be a law firm offering legal help. Oregon State Police and the FBI are investigating the incident as an alleged impersonation of federal agents and assault.

Man pleads guilty to impersonating Border Patrol agent in San Diego

Jaime Ernesto Alvarez-Gonzalez, 53, pleaded guilty to impersonating a U.S. Border Patrol agent and disrupting deportation operations in San Diego on January 8. He modified a black Ford F-150 with law enforcement-style features and followed a real Border Patrol agent, causing the officer to abandon his mission for safety. Alvarez-Gonzalez coordinated multiple vehicles to harass and chase federal agents onto the highway and possessed firearms despite being prohibited from doing so.

Springdale protester charged, then cleared, after confrontation with ICE supporter

Ian Hill, a Springdale resident protesting the borough's ICE partnership, was confronted by a passing ICE supporter who stopped his car; the supporter punched a different protester while video showed Hill neither striking nor being struck. Nearly three months later, Hill was charged with simple assault and terroristic threats over social media posts, but all charges were later dropped.

Two bounty hunters charged after confrontations with Minneapolis protesters

Two bounty hunters, Garrett C. Willis and James R. Willis, were charged with felony threats of violence after confrontations with anti-ICE protesters in Minneapolis on March 3. During two incidents—one in the Phillips West neighborhood and another outside Hennepin County jail—the men pointed replica firearms at protesters and fired pepper ball munitions. Both men admitted to carrying weapons that resembled real firearms and using them against protesters.

NYPD officer pleads not guilty to impersonating ICE agent

An NYPD sergeant named Atickul Islam was charged with posing as a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field director and ordering a victim and their family to report to an ICE facility by April 15. Islam pleaded not guilty to personation of a federal officer and was released on an unsecured $25,000 bond. The NYPD suspended him without pay and seized his badge and service weapon.

ICE impersonator harasses Uber driver and passenger in Los Angeles

A man in a white truck impersonated an ICE agent by displaying a fake badge and clipboard while harassing an Uber driver and passenger near USC in Los Angeles. The man yelled racist slurs, spat at the vehicle multiple times, and chased them for several blocks before fleeing. The incident lasted approximately 20 minutes and was reported to 911 and the Newton Community Police Station.

Shooter kills three at Dallas ICE facility before suicide

On September 24, 2025, a shooter identified as Joshua Jahn fired from a rooftop into an ICE facility near Interstate 35E in Dallas, killing three people detained by ICE and injuring one other before shooting himself. Two of the three victims were taken to hospitals in critical condition, with one dying six days later. Authorities found anti-ICE markings and notes in Jahn's personal effects, concluding the attack was a premeditated terrorist act targeting ICE agents.

LAPD Tightens Rules for Officers Verifying ICE Agents' Identities

Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell issued guidance on June 27 requiring officers responding to suspected federal immigration enforcement to request a supervisor, verify the credentials of the lead agent, and record the verification on body-worn camera. Officers may detain or arrest anyone found to be impersonating a federal agent, a policy shift discussed after the arrest of a man in Huntington Park accused of posing as an immigration agent. LAPD said it has fielded at least seven 911 calls reporting kidnappings that turned out to be ICE operations, and McDonnell emphasized that LAPD does not participate in immigration enforcement under state law. State Sen. Sasha Renée Pérez has separately introduced the “No Vigilantes Act” to bar bounty hunters from immigration enforcement and require visible identification by agents.

Man arrested for posing as federal immigration agent in Huntington Park

Fernando Diaz, 23, was arrested in Huntington Park after police found a loaded firearm, official-looking Homeland Security and CBP documents, and other law enforcement paraphernalia in his vehicle. Diaz denies claims that he told officers he was a former Border Patrol agent, though police continue investigating whether he was impersonating a federal officer.

Man arrested after impersonating ICE agent during Northeast Philadelphia robbery

Jun 8, 2025Philadelphia, PA

Robert Rosado, 54, was charged with robbery, impersonating a public servant, and other offenses after entering an auto repair shop on June 8, 2025, wearing tactical gear and a fake ICE badge, claiming he would take undocumented employees into custody. He zip-tied a woman employee and stole approximately $1,000 before fleeing in an unmarked van. Investigators identified Rosado through license plate readers and surveillance footage, discovering a fake badge, airsoft gun, and other items at his residence. He is being held on $800,000 bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 8, 2025.

Latrance Battle arrested after impersonating federal agent, kidnapping woman.

Apr 10, 2025Panama City Beach, FL

A Florida woman, Latrance Battle, impersonated an ICE agent and kidnapped her ex-boyfriend's wife from her workplace on April 10. The victim, who was in the process of becoming a legal U.S. resident, believed Battle was an ICE agent when approached. Battle took the victim to an apartment complex instead of the sheriff's office, where the victim escaped and contacted law enforcement. Battle was arrested and charged with kidnapping, robbery, impersonating a law enforcement officer, and felony probation violation.

Men in two states accused of impersonating ICE officers

A South Carolina man was arrested after a video showed him impersonating an ICE officer and confronting a Latino man in a pickup truck, telling him he would be sent back to Mexico. The arrest was followed by a similar incident at Temple University in Pennsylvania, where three men falsely identified themselves as ICE officers at a residence hall and cookie shop.

Sean Michael-Emmrich Johnson was arrested after turning himself in to Sullivan's Island Police Department for allegedly impersonating an ICE officer in a viral video where he harassed Hispanic men. He faces charges including felony kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer, larceny, and assault and battery. Johnson bonded out of jail after a court appearance where his family cited his mental health challenges and request for treatment.
