Trump signs Secure America Act, fully funding ICE and Border Patrol through term
Jun 10, 2026·Location: Washington, DC

President Trump signed the Secure America Act, a nearly $70 billion reconciliation package fully funding ICE and Border Patrol through the end of his second term, on top of $170 billion already allocated for immigration enforcement. The bill allocates $38 billion to ICE, $26 billion to Border Patrol, and $5 billion for DHS discretionary spending over three years, and passed the House with all Democrats and independent Rep. Kevin Kiley opposed. Freedom for Immigrants criticized the legislation, noting it came the same week 50 deaths in ICE custody were recorded during Trump's term, and warned expanded detention capacity would lead to more deaths and human rights abuses, arguing private prison corporations and Trump allies would financially benefit while everyday people struggle economically.
