Country of origin: Venezuela

Nayleth Gabriela Martínez Jiménez, a 22-year-old Venezuelan woman detained since July 17 at the Stewart Detention Center in Georgia, discovered she was pregnant while in custody. She says she was hospitalized after experiencing abdominal and hip pain, and was diagnosed with an infection, dehydration and low potassium. An immigration judge has denied her requests for voluntary departure and bond, and she says she continues to struggle to eat and rest adequately while fearing for her pregnancy.
