A Venezuelan student with a full scholarship to Washington and Lee University was detained by immigration authorities during a vehicle stop on Interstate 95 in Florida while his father drove him to campus for his sophomore year. His father, who was driving him because the family feared flying amid immigration enforcement at airports, was also detained. The two, who are asylum seekers, remain in ICE custody at Baker Correctional Institute in Florida, and the student never reached Virginia.
