In January 2025, about a week after President Trump took office, immigration agents raided a Philadelphia car wash where Jonathan Guerrero, a 21-year-old U.S. citizen born in the city, worked. Agents entered without showing badges, pointed a gun at him, and handcuffed him before he could explain he was a citizen. His undocumented father, also a car wash employee, was detained in the same raid. Guerrero was released after agents checked identification and confirmed his citizenship.
