Microsoft and Adobe barred from sponsoring H-1B workers for green cards
Oct 8, 2026·Location: Washington, DC
Vice President JD Vance announced that Microsoft and Adobe have been suspended from filing permanent labor certification applications for H-1B visa holders, accusing the companies of abusing the visa program to replace laid-off American workers with cheaper foreign labor. The Labor Department, led by Secretary Keith Sonderling, said it will not process any new or pending green card applications tied to the companies. Microsoft disputed the characterization, saying the vast majority of its workforce is American and that H-1B employees are paid comparably to other staff.
