Ukrainian and Sudanese TPS holders keep deportation protections as deadline passes
Ukrainian and Sudanese immigrants with Temporary Protected Status will keep their deportation protections past Monday's deadline, DHS said, pending a final decision on the programs.

DHS told CBS News that Temporary Protected Status protections for Ukrainian and Sudanese immigrants, set to expire Monday, will remain in place until a final decision is announced. The Trump administration has revoked TPS for more than 1 million immigrants from over a dozen countries over the past year and a half, but programs for Ukraine, Sudan, and El Salvador have so far been preserved pending final announcements. TPS allows immigrants from countries facing conflict or disaster to live and work in the U.S. without fear of deportation.
