Record 43,138 immigrants arrested by ICE in June under Trump administration
Jul 21, 2026

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested 43,138 people in June 2026, the highest number since Trump took office in January 2025, according to newly released government data. More than 10,000 of those arrests occurred in the final five days of June alone, after agency leaders directed more officers toward arresting targeted immigrants, roughly doubling daily arrests to about 2,000. ICE detention populations have increased to more than 65,000 as of July, approaching earlier record highs, with the Trump administration having deported more than 590,600 people since January 2025. The enforcement surge, backed by $70 billion in funding, has shifted from militarized raids to routine arrests at workplaces, homes, traffic stops, and immigration check-ins, with state and local law enforcement assisting in sweeps.
