A new court filing in a class-action lawsuit against ICE alleges that detainees at Camp East Montana, a tent detention facility on Fort Bliss, face unsafe conditions that risk serious injury or death. Experts testified that poor healthcare and dangerous conditions have already caused preventable deaths, and detainees described physical abuse by guards, inadequate food, lack of hygiene access, and outbreaks of contagious diseases. The lawsuit, filed by the ACLU and Texas Civil Rights Project, asks a federal judge to order immediate improvements and independent monitoring at the facility.
