Jan 1, 2025·Location: VA

Immigration arrests in Virginia reached nearly 11,000 between President Trump's 2025 inauguration and early March 2026, up from 1,595 arrests in all of 2024. Among those detained were 13 children under age 6. More than 7,344 people were booked at Riverside Regional Jail under an ICE-linked designation between January 2025 and early April 2026, as expanded 287(g) agreements have deputized local officers to enforce federal immigration law and turned some jails into detention entry points. Earlier data showed nearly 9,000 arrests in Virginia in 2025 alone, with about 85% of those arrested not facing criminal charges.
