Video contradicts official account

Video that contradicts the official account

Across multiple states, video recordings of ICE and Border Patrol encounters—shootings, beatings, car strikes, and mistaken arrests in cities including Chicago, Austin, Houston, and the Bronx—have contradicted agents' official accounts, sometimes prompting dropped charges, lawsuits, or criminal charges against agents. First documented in January 2025, the pattern became recurring by June 2025, peaking in October 2026, though it now makes up a smaller share of all reported stories than earlier periods.

First documented Jan 2025, recurring since Jun 2025. Shrinking as a share of recent stories.

Share of each month's well-documented stories, Jan 2025 to Oct 2026. Volume is not shown: coverage grew over the record, shares did not have to.
