Car windows smashed during arrest

Across states including Oregon, Washington, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Florida, agents broke car windows to pull drivers out during traffic stops, routine errands, and arrivals at schools, Home Depot lots, and gas stations, sometimes in front of children. Those detained have included farmworkers, construction workers, asylum seekers, and at least one U.S. citizen. First documented in March 2025, the practice became recurring by May 2025 and has held a roughly steady share of reported cases since, peaking in September 2025.
